Polar-Arc is a full featured product line of Data Management and Archive systems that range from the simple Polar-Arc10 Desktop drag and drop LTO archive
to the Polar-Arc Professional fully automated data and workflow management systems that operate across multiple applications and storage nodes in multiple locations.
There are three versions of Polar-Arc
Polar-Arc Standard
Complete Archive systems for On premise and Cloud with a server, LTO tape drives or tape library and archive management software that is simple, easy to use, extremely robust, very reliable and easily expanded.
Polar-Arc Professional
Adds an application driven WEB interface to manage multiple data workflows between applications and devices.
Polar-Arc Expansion
Builds upon Polar-Arc Professional to expand Data and Workflow management to provide complex production workflows between over 160 applications and devices.
Polar-Arc Standard systems use a network shared storage drive to make interacting with applications simple and easy for users. Once set up it is as simple as dragging and dropping files into the shared drive folder structure to archive data, and even easier to restore by simply opening, or copying the file from the shared drive. The built in XenData archive management software does the rest.
Unique to Polar-Arc is a web based management dashboard for the XenData archive software. It allows remote management and control of multiple archive systems even in different locations. While standard XenData management console can still be used, locally or via vpn, the Polar-Arc Library Management GUI allows users to easily create archive workflows without direct access to the archive server. It also provides alert information including off line media status.
Polar-Arc Professional is a powerful plug-in to the standard Polar-Arc range of products. It provides harness interconnects from a library of hundreds of applications via APIs, and unlimited connections to generic, none-API managed applications and devices.
From the Polar-Arc Professional GUI you can create, schedule and run workflow jobs between harness nodes and devices. Up to 5 managed Nodes are licensed (a managed node is one with an API integration) and unlimited unmanaged (no API) device nodes, such as an SMB, NAS or generic S3 cloud storage. Jobs can be to archive and restore from nodes to the Polar-Arc LTO archive or to copy or move files between nodes, for example from a Transcode workstation to an Avid NEXIS. Nodes are connected via 10GigE, Lan or Wan.

For each of these jobs the source and destination can be selected from the available harness nodes and the job either run manually or set up to run automatically. In addition, for Avid and Adobe nodes you can configure a job to archive and restore Files, Bins and Projects either directly or by “conforming” from an ALE, AAF or EDL. Polar-Arc Professional monitors a watch folder and when an ALE, AAF or XML ticket is dropped in to it will process the ticket to conform the high-resolution files. The Polar-Arc Professional plugin manages the XenData archive management software, eliminating the need to connect remotely or directly to the XenData server to set up volume sets volumes and file group rules.
Polar-Arc-Expansion. Polar-Arc Professional can be expanded beyond the 5 licensed nodes to include additional managed harness connections to hundreds of applications via the full Ortana management software. This includes accessing cloud applications for tiered storage, transcoding and even billing.
